weekend win

to say that I am a little obsessed with my new shoes I picked up at zara this weekend would be an understatement… love. love. love.

knock on wood

brooklyn designer pat kim knocks it out of the park with these knock knock! rings – made from pure walnut wood and complete with a miniature brass knocker.
because let’s be honest, superstitious inclinations come out of nowhere – regardless of your surroundings… $75

love veils

It gives me great pleasure to post wonderful things on my blog always – but there is something extra special about posting something fabulous designed by talented people I know. These gorgeous handmade veils and accessories are designed by Hannah Berkowitz (who spent a summer living in my apartment in New York City) and Cori Middlebrooks. These ladies believe in an overall look of understated elegance achieved by combining traditional and unexpected materials. I think they have succeeded at doing just that.
Check out their website  Love Veils & Accessories

working necklaces

I am absolutely obsessed with these pendent necklaces sold by Etsy seller Brash Lady Inc. The magnifying glass, compass, hour glass necklace, and spy telescope (that opens and closes!!) are all such awesome pieces – and they work! My favorite is the spy telescope. I like it so much I think I am going to order it!

chain game

I am loving this j crew necklace for its use of geometric shapes and layering of mixed metals. It’s like 3 necklaces in one – which makes me less upset about price tag… It’s the perfect piece to bring a touch of edge to any outfit.

wrist watch

I have a beautiful watch that I wear each and every day. It’s simple and elegant and the fact that it was a gift from my father makes me smile each time it catches my eye. But, this certainly doesn’t stop me from loving these Michael Kors watches. I think it would be quite fun to have a statement watch in rotation when I am looking to be more bold with my accessories. The look of “horn” and “tortoise” are two of my favorites – it would be a tough choice picking just one of these beauts.

shower curtain

I have decided to re-vamp some of the rooms in my apartment, well actually just two: the bathroom and bedroom. Since my bathroom is small this pretty much only allows for a new shower curtain, bath mat and maybe new decorative accessories. These are a few shower curtains that I like… Thoughts? I will be sure to keep you posted on other plans as they solidify. One thing is for certain – I am painting a wall in my bedroom! Exciting stuff!

Beginning top left, clockwise: bella shower curtain, woolrich buffalo check, hippos, cityscape, singing in the rain, marimekko almond, arbor tree, fresco fabric,

a touch of toile

Some may say toile is old fashioned or belongs in a country home – but I think otherwise… Working Class Studio has released a collection of brightly colored toile accessories (pillows, aprons, kitchen towels, oven mitts and pot holders included) – bringing a modern touch to a traditional pattern. Lovely!

I. Must. Have. This.

maya brenner

I love the jewelry designed by maya brenner and I am bummed that I didn’t notice there was a discount opportunity yesterday via daily candy. I would have likely purchased a lil something for myself had I seen the post! How lovely are these pieces?!

update: daily candy deal is still going on. time to go shopping!

DIY: Painted Bottles

I saw this great DIY project on apartment therapy that takes every day bottles and makes them fantastic and display worthy (or as I’d like to say “wow-worthy”)… The cost is minimal – some bottles and paint, and the result is extraordinary. Isn’t that what DIY is all about! Simple instructions via poppytalk:

1) After finding some bottles with great shape and detail, remove the labels, clean the inside and let them dry out completely

2) Next, pour a good size dollop of paint into the bottom of the bottle. The color options here are endless. This set is monochromatic, but a few bold contrasting pieces would be quite nice as well.

3) With the paint in the bottle, you will have to slowly rotate the bottle to get the paint to coat the entire interior of the bottle. Depending on the opacity of the paint, this might require two coats. (Acrylic paint will work for this as it will adhere to the glass, but note that you shouldn’t fill the bottle with water later.

4) Let it dry thoroughly and you are all set.

Update: check out one of my favorite bloggers Jamie from I Suwannee. She spotted this project and got right to work – the result is fantastic:

the hellers

While I can’t believe this post has not come sooner, I am thrilled to be bloggin about The Hellers, a stylish collection of eye-catching clothes designed by brother-sister duo Dania and Yoram Heller, who also happen to be my great friends (Yoram and I go back about 13 or 14 yrs…) Their line includes truly unique and original jackets, dresses, skirts, and accessories made from the highest quality deadstock material sourced from the around the world. In fact, they are responsible for two of my favorite dresses currently hanging in my closet.  I love them and you should too.

must have shoe accessory

If you know me you know I am a lady who loves shoes. LOVES shoes. I have far too many and always have my eyes on many, many more. I spotted these chiffon shoe clips from etsy seller blacksatinshoes and am blown away by how stunning they are and how simply they transform a simple (and gorgeous heel – one that I own!!) to look like a brand new shoe. I am definitely going to be purchasing a few of these clips in various colors. I can not wait!

(check out this store – beyond these fabulous shoe clips, there are beautiful headbands, earrings, and other jewelry)

knob love

Sometimes something so subtle as changing a door knob can make a room feel remarkably different… While big and bold is nice, I am a huge believer that its the little surprise elements that go a long way…

stomp here please

Who says a doormat hast to be boring? Show your doorway some love with these fantastic mats… I think my favorite is the mat number 2; made out of recycled flip flops it is eco-friendly to boot!

melissa by vivienne westwood

I received these shoes for the holidays and they are my new favorites! If you check this blog often you have probably realized I am a huge fan of bows and seem to always be drawn to clothes, jewelry, and accessories that have bows on them… These flats were my everyday shoes while hanging out with friends and family over the past week in Los Angeles and I am so bummed to stow them away now that I am back in New York where it’s freeeeezing!!

I clearly have neck accessories on the mind seeing as this is my second post on the subject today. This is “necklush,” an amazing accessory made of multiple strands of cotton loops that can be worn in many different styles. They are handmade – even down to the hand printed patterns, and many of their fabrics are organic. This is definitely on my holiday wish list… specifically the one pictured above: necklush ultra – natural with dark gray. (hint, hint!)

diamonds with a conscience

Diamonds are a girls best friend. Yet as we all know, a majority of diamond mining is connected to corruption. I recently came across MiaDonna – a conflict-free alternative diamond simulant that mimics the structure and beauty, AND looks identical to any fine diamond. This hybrid is sold for three precent of the cost in comparison to those mined from the earth without any compromise to quality. MiaDonna uses recycled gold and platinum for settings – an environmentally conscious decision – and works in collaboration with the philanthropy The Greener Diamond, a project that establishes a sustainable food source for the community previously afflicted by mining conflict diamonds and trains these individuals in a new trade. So ladies – if your hoping for diamonds for the holiday, you’ll get more bang for your buck with MiaDonna and give back to society all at the same time.

jean straps

So perhaps the packaging isn’t the most appealing, but I still can’t help but seriously consider purchasing these removable jean straps stirrups. I don’t know about you, but I certainly spend most of winter wearing jeans tucked into boots and lets be real, eliminating the bunching and wrestling to get boots over jeans would be much appreciated.

What do you guys think? Are jean straps a go or no?
