everyday is a celebration

These banter banners would be lovely for a party or just for everyday enjoyment. Why not live life surrounded by festive decorations!

steel straws

I have a confession. While in LA in early January I had drinks at The Roger Room, an excellent bar with delicious drinks that come served with a metal straw. On my way out, I put the straw my purse. I know, I know this is technically stealing – but I had never had the pleasure of drinking from a steel straw before and probably had had a few too  many to drink… Anyway – thrilled to have come across the Brook Farm General Store because now I know where to buy my own! Trust me, these guys would be a fantastic addition for a cocktail party. They add the perfect zing to already tasty drinks!

coasters

now that we’ve found amazing placecard holders and napkin rings – how about throwing some fun coasters into the mix for pre-dinner drinks!

mismatched plates

I think I might be one of those people that would rather have a collection of mismatched plates than the traditional sets. Perfect for table top or on the wall for decoration, there is something about mixing colors, prints and styles that feels so whimsical and playful. Insert big smile here.

succulents

I am really into the look of succulents. They are much more understated then say roses, and they are nearly impossible to kill! You can’t really go wrong with plants that are both low maintenance and chic…

feeling crafty?

craft DIY image

Today my friend told me about the greatest website ever: save-on-crafts. This website sells anything and everything your crafty and DIY loving heart could desire. From apothecary jars, feathers, and variety of natural touches (shown above) to all you need to create jewelry and decorations – they carry a variety of lights, paper lanterns, ribbons and tulle to name a few. They have a section devoted to crafting ideas for finding inspiration and instructions for more projects then you can imagine. With affordable wholesale prices, my biggest problem is going to be finding enough occasions to showcase my newly constructed centerpieces and decorations.

tasty tapas

zucchini bruschetta

Last weekend my friend Rose had a tapas party. Well it was more like a potluck dinner party, but the instructions were to bring a tapas dish. I made my own version of a zucchini bruschetta. It turned out delicious! I think the buttery garlic bread that I served the zucchini, tomato, basil, onion and fresh mozzarella on might have had something to do with it.

If you want to try this recipe on your own…

dice two zucchini into bite size pieces
marinate in balsamic vinegar for 20 minutes or so
toss into pan with some olive oil
add fresh chopped basil, minced garlic, diced onion, halved cherry tomatos
let simmer for 10 minutes
salt & pepper to taste
add fresh mozzarella once cooled so it doesn’t melt too much…
… voila!
